Hi,
I so enjoy your photography. I love your use of light and color! I am an amateur hobby-photographer (amateur, meaning my 9 year old does better). I use a Canon 20D and really have a difficult time with correct lighting. I am the photogrpaher for my children’s yearbook.
I live in a SMALL town with very little resources as to photography techniques and advice, so hence my seeking out your right-brained abilities.
How do you achieve the sharpness in your photos and the phenomenal lighting? I absolutely cannot get the force flash to work on this camera! Prior to purchasing this one, I used a Fuji S7000, which I loved, but killed. The Fuji’s just don’t last.
Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Nancy,
Canon cameras have a slight tendancy to underexpose, I have noticed. I get pretty nasty shots fairly often. My tips:
1. Turn off your flash. Never ever use it. 😛
2. Take pictures ALL DAY. DITL works great for this, because it teaches you how to make a boring shot interesting. It also teaches you how to use the camera in varying lighting.
3. Photoshop is your friend. Learn to use it, or buy some actions, or both. Here’s an example of what photoshop can do for a photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/crickiephotos/421229352/ Eventually I’ll have that action down enough to sell it.
4. ILP rocks. http://ilovephotography.com/forums/index.php
They have 1000’s of people sharing techniques and photos from all over the world. I’d be LOST without this forum.

Thanks so much,
