Well, I’ll be gone for most of this weekend, so I want to wish everyone a nice holiday in case I can’t get to a computer. Mr. Bunny is done being ‘tootered’, and is resting up in the vet’s office for the weekend, because the cage I’m building isn’t done enough to bring him home yet. I’ll have tonight and Sunday to finish it, and I go get him at 8am Monday morning. So, I NEED A NAME! Or rather, I will by Monday. I leave work today at 4pm, so hopefully I can get most of the rabbit cage done by the time I leave tomorrow. I’ve been doing a bunch of rabbit research, and I’ve gotten a pretty good idea of what to expect and do from The House Rabbit Society. I seriously still have to bunny proof my house, and I also need to find some fun cheap straw things like baskets and hats. Luckily, most bunny toys are incredibly cheap, like pinecones from outside. Five finger discount! Not that anyone would care if I took some pinecones.
Boy, I’m going to have to make a ‘bunnies’ topic section so I can quit being girly about this. Yesterday, after making 8 phone calls and visiting 5 stores, I got an appointment for the bunny to get ‘tootered’ (hehe), and a set of wire stacking cubes you put together yourself. I used the cubes to make a 2×3x3 foot cage for the bunny with shelves inside. I have to figure out how in the world to make a ramp for these things, and I also need to get a high corner litter box or two for the cage while he’s in it. Have to find some bunny toys too, because the internet says if rabbits aren’t kept from getting bored, they’ll eat you carpet or something else equally inappropriate.
I’ll tell you, He’s a hell of a lot funnier than a cat is. He runs little circles around my feet, and if I walk really slow, he’ll do figure 8’s inside my feet. Every once in a while, he’ll get this wild hair up his ass and jump about 3 feet in the air and do a flip or a twist or something funny as hell, then race off as fast as he can while I’m still laughing at him.
Well, this weekend has been busy. I worked all day Friday, and 10-3 on Saturday. I went to go take pictures of one of our customers for something he wanted. So, I’m on my way there and I call him to get directions and he’s like “Can you kill some time on the way here? My washer just blew up!” So I stop off in this little tiny shopping center and head into the BI-LO to get some sugar, then went into the ‘Komix Kastle’ to see if they had any SIP. They guy said he could order me the trade paperbacks if I wanted them. He asked me what else I read, and then handed me a copy of “The Preacher” (a seriously whacked story about a guy that accidentally got the powers of God) through which I giggled. Then he asks me if I model. Prepared for the question, I say “I enjoy my brains more than I do my looks.” or something like that, and he was impressed. We got to talking, and he says he’s doing a Con.. sort of. He’s doing a Martial Arts and Action Cinematography Con in Atlanta. He’s wanting me to maybe do some drawings for fliers and web design and maybe more. It’s exciting. I’ve never been part of something big, and I want to.
My mom came up to see me today and we went to wander about in the Botanical Gardens. We both molested the lizard population and got pictures. It was a fun day outside in warm weather. I came back and took some boxes outside to the trash since it wasn’t freaking cold outside.
While outside, I scared a bunny that was grazing a bit on some pansies nearby. I put the boxes in the trash, and went to go look for the bunny, since it was very obviously NOT a wild bunny, because it was white with a black stripe down it’s back, just like a store bunny. Well, I found it, and caught it (after a long romp through the bushes) and put it in my bathroom. After a panicked call to Basil (who has bunnies) and a trip to Wal-Mart for some fresh veggies and bunny supplies, I have a bunny in my bathroom. He’s a really funny character. He tried to hump Gabriel, and chased Maddie all over my apartment. He runs little circles around my feet, and stands up to greet me when I peek over the barrier to the bathroom. He loves to have his cheeks scratched on and his ears rubbed. He’ll play with my pants until I reach down and pet him. He’s a real cutie! I don’t know if I’m going to keep him, but.. I’m learning about bunnies really fast.
