You are .jpg You are very colorful. Sometimes you forget things, or distort the truth. You like working with pictures more than words.
Which File Extension are You?

I thought it was quite apt.

Rest in peace, Bootsie. In early October, I lost Artie, one of my mice. Since they only live to be around two years old, I predicted then that I’d lose the other two within 6-12 months. Bootsie died sometime last light, after a three day struggle with intestinal bloat. I checked all kinds of pet mouse sites for ways to help, but all of them told me only to give her lots of water and to massage the gas bubble. I tried, but she wouldn’t drink any water and I couldn’t massage any of the gas out. She was about twice her usual size when she died. I know I’ll lose the last of the mice, Kitty Pryde, sometime soon, but she looked quite healthy when I checked her today.

John and I broke down last night and finally added another blanket to the bed. It’s a huge throw designed to fully cover a large sofa, so folding it in half is still larger than our full size bed. One of these days we’ll break down and buy a Queen or a King, but for last night we were nice and warm with our double layer.

BTW: I’m aware of the issue with the comments not saving your information. This is really really irritating, and I’m working on fixing it. Been working on it for the past few days, but so far nothing. I only know that it’s nothing I did. Too bad that knowledge doesn’t help me fix it. For some reason, crickie.com is just not sending cookies, so there’s nothing for the form to retrieve.

Thanksgiving 2005

Happy Turkey day to all of you Americans out there! I slept in this morning, as I didn’t have to go to work. I usually get up at 7:30am, but I slept in today until 8:30am. Wahoo! Poor John is catching the crud and was up some of the night, so he slept in until about 11am, far later than he usually does. I puttered around online some, then I pestered Meggie in MSN. She told me that dad was on, with a webcam! I chatted with him and my stepmom for a good hour online. i really really need to get a better webcam. I’m still using one that Larry gave me years ago. It’s oooollld. It was a great Thanksgiving morning though.
John and I made a tiny 2lb turkey breast. It’s our first Thanksgiving alone, so we had fun with it. No major catastrophes either. It baked well. We also made stuffing, green beans, Mac & Cheese (because I LOVE it), and added some gravy and cran sauce in too. John likes the cran a lot, but I’m not such a big fan. We set up our folding table in the computer room (away from the TV), and just had a nice sit down, talking about this and that. I’m so stuffed I don’t even want to look at more food. We even made Stumpy a plate of her own, but she hasn’t touched it yet.
While I was waiting for the turkey to bake, I got bored and did a small edit to the site. I got tired of crickie.com looking like Greg’s site. I mean, he and I are both using the same theme, so it’s expected. It turns out that it’s one of the more common themes used, and I kept running into ti. So I tweaked mine a little to give it a more unique feel. I tried brown first, but it just didn’t work. So.. now crickie.com is back to being blue. It was blue and orange for 5 years, and it’s blue again. Only it’s a winter blue. I think I may have fun with the seasons thing and do a fun flowery spring one when spring rolls around. My only issue right now is that the new colors aren’t reflected in the WPG2 pages. I’ll have to get Greg to tell me what I’m screwing up.

… Freezing in the evening, feezing at suppertime…
Backstory: My car leaks. The sunroof has become un-sealed, and when it rains for an extended time, the water collects in some area of the roof until the car is going downhill. At that point, the water slides forward and out of the sunroof hole on the inside, drenching the driver with about a gallon of icy or boiling water.
Yeah… I’ve had better days. This morning I wake up after 7 hours of sleep (I’m used to about 9-10). Tired, cranky, I lever myself out of the bed anyway. I just want to go back to sleep. I’m just in the mood to be hugged on and whine about everything, but I head to work anyway. As I’m leaving, John says:

John: Hey, you want a towel in case your sunroof leaks today?”
Me: Nah. It won’t leak on me until I’m heading home, so I won’t need one.”
John: Ooooookayyy…

Get in the car. Forget all about it. Brake down a hill at the stoplight. *sploosh* AUGHHH!!!!!! Rassa frazza fricka fracka…Get to work, take off my top two layers which are now soaked through, put on a spare sweater I just happened to have in the car. It’s at this point I realize I don’t have any Diet Coke in the fridge at work. Narg!! I need my DC in the morning. Run over to the neighboring gas station to buy some. It’s still pouring, so the kids are testy because they’ve been cooped up inside all day. They’re bouncing off the walls, I’m working on everything I can do just to keep them off the ceilings while still trying to stay sane myself.
Finally, I can go home. It’s been pouring all day, but I think to myself “Since I emptied it this morning, it shouldn’t be full enough to get me this time. Drive, brake *sploosh!* AUGHHH!!!!! Grrr… Get home, soaked and freezing, only to find out that John has turned off the heat durring the day. Not surprisingly, it’s freaking freezing in the house too. I changed directly into my PJ’s, made a pair of (not burned) Grilled Cheese sandwiches, and sat in front of the tube. I plan on having a nice hot bath and eat tons of chocolate while my 4 shirts and one pair of pants dry.

Dammit. Over-grilled Cheese.

< ---- THAT is why Heather cannot leave the kitchen with something in the oven. Because she forgets that something is in the oven within 3 seconds of leaving said kitchen.

That used to be grilled cheese. Not only did I burn this side, but I had just burned the OTHER side by leaving the kitchen and getting sidetracked. Hey, we know the smoke detector works now. :( Meh. I guess I’ll have chicken for lunch instead.

Every day, I check out weather.com so I can see if it’s going to be warm enough to take the kids outside. Each day, I find myself looking for snow forcasts or an upcoming ice storm. Even if we get anything this year, it won’t be until January at the earliest. Damn damn.

There’s something about November sunsets here in Georgia. They’re almost all stunningly beautiful and very red. I’m not sure what it is, but they make the most wonderful photos. It’s almost like they have been painted in the sky. Nothing is as beautiful as the sunsets in Texas in January and February though. Those were the best sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life, and each one of them was breathtakingly wonderful. They’re all blue and purple and rose, plus some colors there’s no names for yet. They all look like they’ve come right out of Fantasia; very fanciful and almost surreal. The colors are so unreal that you just think to yourself “This has to be a Van Gogh.”

As I was driving back home from work yesterday, i noticed that the gas light was on. This isn’t surprising, since I have a bad habit of letting the car get down to fumes before I put anything in it again. It started up just finethough, so i figured I had at least another day of back and forth to work in the tank. This morning I found out just how wrong I was. It’s only a mile to work (which is an easy walk for me), but the car chugged to a halt in the center divide about 1/2 a mile out. I called work and let them know that I’d be hoofing it in to work because I was dumb. I have a great coat and it was a nice 40F as I set out. I was getting nice and toasty just as one of my co-workers pulled up beside me. She’s a true southerner and she thought it was just too cold to let anyone walk a few hundred yards in to work. Bah. I was pleased by the thoughfulness though. I called John who (does this a lot) filled up the gas can and picked me up from work so we could fill up the car again. Thi sis a first, however. usually when it runs out of gas due to my stupidity, it makes it home but just doesn’t start the next day. This is the first time I’ve actually run out of gas and sputtered to a halt while driving. Every once in a while, you just need a kick in the ass to let you know you’re not as smart and you think you are.
