After going back and looking the the sketch from yesterday, I came to the reluctant conslusion that Larken was correct in saying that they looked similar. However, I quickly decided that coloring them might fix the problem. I personally think they look nothing alike now, despite not having changed a thing about the drawing itself. Larken, comments?

Best friends in my graphic novel. On the left, the as yet unnamed Larken character, on the right the main character, Aloria (Lori for short). They’re headed home on a hot day from a walk to the grocery store.
This illustrates the facial structure differences between the two, Lori’s eyes go up, Larken’s go down. Larken has a shorter (cuter) nose, while Lori’s is long and upturned. Lori’s mouth is a little smaller, but her lips turn down more. Both girls are about the same height, but Lori has a longer torso while Larken has longer legs. This makes me laugh, because in real life, I’m a good 6 inches taller than Larken, with both a long torso and long legs. Larken’s eyes also don’t turn down that much, but I wanted her to look markedly different than Lori. Once I practive her more, she’ll look a bit better. Eventually, she’ll be named. I’m toying with Noelle at the moment, but I don’ think that will be the final name.
All I can say is: Why are the best friends the sexy ones?

Here’s a quick thing that I’m working on for my graphic novel. Since the script is coming close to being done, I was working on character design. I have myself and John’s character already done, so today i was working on the girl who will end up being the Larken character. I did a few designs and sloppily colored them. Each picture will take you to a larger image. When you’re done looking, please vote for what you think is either the best or the closest to Larken’s personality. Leave some comments below on why you picked what you did. (For those that care, my favorites are 1, 3, 4 and 8.)

Go see my DITL!

It was fun day, if busy and somewhat painful.

I just had my very first ever lesson in driving a stick shift. Let’s compare shift vs automatic for a moment:

Automatic:
1. Take foot off of brake
2. Put foot on gas.
3. Car goes.

Stick:
1. Let off clutch until engine picks up.
2. Take foot off brake
3. Put foot on gas
4. Let up clutch while pushing gas
5. Release clutch with more gas
6. Car goes (maybe)

::whine:: I had that poor Jeep turned into a bucking bronco several times. I managed to learn how to start the Jeep, make Jeep buck, make Jeep go, make Jeep turn on a dime, and stop Jeep. We also worked a little on shifting gears (make Jeep buck again). I got it into 2nd gear a few time before my raging hormones got the better of me. I certainly could have picked a better week for that. I’ll certainly end up with a nice powerful left leg. That clutch pushes back hard.

On May 31st, I got this letter in my e-mail:

Hi Stumpy!

My name is Brandy Barker. Just wanted to drop you a quick note. I caught your blog and had to write - you’re so eloquent for a cat. I must say, I’m impressed. I thought you might be interested in trying out and perhaps discussing a new innovation on your blog since you, as a cat, are most certainly concerned with making sure you maintain your hygiene - particularly with cat litter.

I confess that I’m a little bit obsessed with the cat litter smell issue myself. I have a lady cat named Holly (you’d like her - she’s a tortoiseshell persian - very lovely), and let’s just say, her smell is not always as pretty as she is. I’m sure you can identify. Also, I work for Fleishman-Hillard, a public relations firm in St. Louis, and one of our clients, the Clorox Company, has just introduced a great product that I thought you might be interested in - a new (and very much improved) Fresh Step Scoopable Cat Litter with odor-eliminating carbon.

This is the biggest innovation in cat litter in 20 years - the carbon in this new-patented formula helps to eliminate odors on contact, so odors are neutralized before they leave the box. Carbon helps to eliminate odors by grabbing them and holding them to its surface. In addition, the new Fresh Step Scoopable Cat Litter contains a patented antimicrobial agent to help fight the growth of odor causing bacteria.

So what does all this mean for you (and your human parents)? Basically – the new and improved Fresh Step Scoopable Cat Litter will deliver maximum odor control and will revolutionize the cat litter experience for you. I can certainly attest to this - it’s made an unbelievable difference in my own home - the litter box is located close to the front door and you can’t even tell! And I know that Holly prefers it since it covers up the smell in her litter box.

I would love to send you two free full-size samples to try and write about on your blog. If you’re interested, just reply with your mom’s mailing address and I will ship it right out to you both. All I ask in return is you and even your mom’s honest opinion about the new litter.

Thanks so much. Hope to hear from you soon!

I replied back with our address so she could send some cat litter over if that was what she was really going to do. I figured, eh.. it’s free cat litter. Well, hell if she didn’t actually send the stuff! This morning, two boxes of cat litter were delivered by the UPS man. To be a fair product tester, I cleaned the cat box (and took photos for Stumpy’s blog). We’ll see how well it works. I’ll tell you one thing though, 99.9% dust free STILL means your entire bathroom is filled with dust.

Anyone out there who is high level on alliance side:
Sequiro (lvl 12 nightelf hunter) needs some Stringy Wolf Meat (for cooking), any leather armor suitable to low-ish levels, any bows or daggers suitable to low-ish levels, and bags. Need the bags. Keep having to go back to town because I can’t carry any more stuff. I’ll recompense as much as I can.

My horde character (Nashu, lvl 18 tauren warrior) is doing well, but poor Sequiro is always broke and half-dead. Leather armor doesn’t protect well. :(
