TaryAnn and Alice, but no Megan

Well, sorry not to update for so long, but things have been busy. TaryAnn was here for all of about 6 hours. ::sigh:: She just had to be with her sister more though, because her sister was the one having the baby. She arrived, and I promptly dragged her to Maggie Moo’s (as I do everyone that’s in town) for some of the world’s best ice cream. Then it was off to a Mexican place for real food, then Spaar’s bar and grill for some pool and shuffleboard. We all had tons of fun with the pool and shuffleboard, but the most fun of all was listening to Byron speak. It was like watching ‘Strictly Ballroom’ (a great Australian movie) happen right in front of you. I was disappointed that she didn’t get to stay longer, but I understand. Her sister’s got a new baby girl named Madeline Brienna, and she’s a healthy 7 pounds 12 oz, and 22 inches long. Whew! That’s a lot of baby. Saying goodbye again was hard.

I also said goodbye to Megan, which was so much harder than I expected. She came to work on Tuesday to say goodbye (she was headed to my dad’s place for two days before the flight left on Thursday), and I almost cried when I hugged her, and I watched her car go all the way out of the parking lot. I fought back tears the whole afternoon, and asked off work so I could go down to see her off at the airport. I cried a little sitting in front of my computer that night. All Wednesday, I was fighting back tears again at work. I kept thinking about things She’d touched or held. How my car’s gas tank would outlast her stay here, or how She’d taken some of that case of diet coke in the fridge. I cried myself to sleep on Wednesday night, missing her already. Thursday, John and I drove down and surprised her, then drove her to the Airport with my dad. They wanted to charge her an extra $280 dollars to get on the plane because she had 4 bags instead of the allowed 2, so John and I took her winter clothes back with us and we’ll ship them later. I gave her a pair of stuffed kittens because she can’t take her kitties with her yet. I fought back tears all the way back up with John, and I cried a bit last night lying in bed. A year and a half is way too long already.

In July, Atari is throwing a ‘(uber skimpy) Halloween in July’ party, and I’m already hard at work on my costume. I’m going to be a less conservative version of Alice. Alice in Wonderland, that is. The current pictures show the evolution so far. There’s more lace to be added to the shirt (to look a bit like an apron top. I have the apron in the mail, and the knee high stockings with bows on top as well. The blue hair tie will go with the dress, and there will be more lace on the skirt. Lastly, there will be some cute arm and neck bands with ribbon. They’ll look a lot like garters. Anyone that’s familiar with anime will know what I’m talking about. So far, I’m quite pleased with my work. The skirt was a sheet I found in a thrift store earlier today, and the shirt was a plain shirt before I got to it. The blue trim used to be a bed skirt today. More photos added as I add more to the costume. There’s no date to the costume party yet though, so I’m trying to work as fast as possible.
It’s now Summer over at Midnight Confessions. I have more art to put up, but I’m not doing it tonight. Soon, I promise.
