1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

I’m Heather Ann. The Ann comes from my aunt, Charlotte Ann.

2. Do you have your children’s names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

Girls: Morgan, Renee, Regina. Boys: Emmett, Robin, Elliot. Too bad we’re not having any.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

Jared. My brother was named this instead.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

I used to hate my name. I would have given anything to be named Noelle back then. Heather’s fine now, although my last name will change eventually.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

When I was little, Jared called me ‘Heffer’ which was fine until I figured out that I was a cow. To this day, i still get cow gifts from him. As a teacher, my kids called me ‘Hedder’, which Larken and Blix still call me sometimes.

I’ve been grumpy all day. I’m just dying to shoot some kids and edit photos, but I don’t have kids to shoot and I’ve already edited the photos I needed to edit.

I’m about to start stalking playgrounds. At least the business cards are on the way. I’ll be able to hand the cards out and be somewhat professional about it when they get here.

This is Justin and Carmen’s daughter. I had about 5 minutes with her near sunset last night. I’ve got another photodate with her sometime this week. Here are a couple I liked.

John has issues with English. Every once in a while (read: at least once a day), he begins to say something and can’t remember the word for what he’s talking about. When he can’t come up with the word withina few seconds, him mind usually subsitutes a string of a few words to describe the object he means. These words usually have nothing or little to do with what he’s actually talking about, but they come out of his mouth anyway. This means I have a good time laughing at him and trying to figure out what the hell he’s talking about.

The first time he did this we were standing in a grocery store, looking for lunch.

John: Hey, we should also get some… uh…
Me: Uh..? Chips? Drinks? A ham?
John: Uh… ::here he makes drinking motions with his hands::
Me: Soda. Water. Monkeys..
John: Liquid. Drink. Thing. Tasty.
Me: ::falls on floor laughing::

Turns out he was actually talking about Capri Sun drink pouches!

Today, we had another bout of English problems.

John: I was thinking we should do….
Me: ::used to this now, and waiting patiently::
John: Uh…
Me: Does it have to do with food?
John: Yes! For lunch. We should make…
Me: I just had some hot dogs, but we could do whatever it is for dinner?
John: Yeah.. uh…
Me: This is taking longer than normal.
John: MEEFWICH! Wait, no…
Me: The hell is a meefwich??
John: Steak-um!

Yes, I love him, Yes, he’s crazy.

So I have to have some business cards by August the 11th so I can hand them out in case people ask while I’m at the hummingbird festival. To that end, I’ve jumped on printsmadeeasy.com and whipped out two designs to hold me over until I can get Atari or Tim to do a logo for me. Which one is best? The finished cards will NOT have the dotted lines on them.

EDIT: thanks to Groovy for design #2 for the B+W card.

So, Capturedlight.com IS taken. Help?

A search through a thesaurus gets me:
Captured Brilliance
Captured Glow
Captured Luster
Captured Splendor

Captured Spelndor sounds quite pretentious to me, but the rest might do. Thoughts?

I need to expand my porfollio. Right now, ALL of the ‘babies’ section is Benji and all of the maternity section is Larken, and the majority of the ‘children’ section is Munchie. I also need to shoot some more adults, but that’s not as high on the list. I think I’ve got Justin and Carmen wrangled into letting me shoot their 6-year-old, Olivia. That’s all on my list for now though.

If you have babies or children and are in (or plan to visit) the North Georgia area, please let me shoot you for free!
If you are an adult and one of my friends who wants a photoshoot (engagement, portrait, or something a bit more ‘revealing’), I’ll do it for the price of gas getting there and dinner while I’m there.

Larken - ‘Heather in the field’, ‘Nightingale Photography’ and ‘Nightingale nights’
Blixem - ‘Crickie-clickie’ (in jest), ‘MobilePhoto’
My Mom - ‘Heather travels’
David - Get married and use ‘Heather Larkin Photography’
Scott - ‘Angel Wing Photography’
Ozgreg - ‘Elvenwings Photography’
Stephen - ‘Captured Light’ and ‘Captured Nights’ (added bonus: capturedlight.com is available)
Larken’s mom - ‘Peaches’

Right now I’m wavering back and forth between ‘Heather in the field’ and ‘Captured Light’. I really enjoy ‘Captured Nights’ too, and ‘Heather in the field’ would become ‘Heather Nights’ (Larkin says lame) or ‘Field Nights’ (which sounds even lamer to me).
