Sads

I’m a member of several photography forums. In one of them, someone posted a topic about how to reply to a same-sex couple’s maternity and newborn photography inquiry. The original poster said that she didn’t agree with it and wouldn’t do it, and didn’t even bother to reply to the email the first time. The couple then miscarried and got pregnant again and wrote back again, which is why this person was writing, to ask about how to reply.

This topic makes me really, really sad. I mean, here are a pair of people in love and they want to celebrate their child, but no one will help them because neither of them happens to have been born with a penis? To me, it’s just criminal. Really. This couple is doing nothing illegal, so regardless of how a business owner personally feels about it, they own A BUSINESS. They are legally obligated to serve their clients without prejudice. What if a racist refused to photograph two black people? What if the couple happened to be one black guy and a white woman? How about refusing service to Jewish people or Christian people? Even better, what if someone refused to serve poor people or Republicans? I mean, how is that okay? It’s not only illegal to do that, but it’s plain unprofessional.

I just want to hug this poor pair of lesbian women who will probably be better mothers to that one desperately wanted child than numerous dead-beat-dads in history. People deserve better than that.
