Well, I’ve been away from home since Saturday the 4th. John needed some alone time to de-stress, and i needed some too. He drove me up to stay with my mom until tomorrow. It’s been.. okay. Mom has a dog now, who is still just a puppy, so he keeps mouthing everything. Those of you who know me know my issues with slime or spit everywhere. So, I have to keep wiping off my arms or toes or hands.. etc. Yuck. Mom’s also taken up smoking again. I’m not around anyone who smokes on a regular basis, so the stuff in the air is murdering my lungs. Add all this to the fact that there’s not much to do up here when she’s working.. it’s get pretty boring sometimes. We went to wander around the mall on Monday night. I managed not to buy anything (of which I’m very proud), but she decided to buy everything she liked. 🙂 now I know where I get my terrible impulse control from. The other great thing about being here is the hummingbirds. My mother’s day gift to Mom was a pair of hummingbird feeders. Unbeknownst to me, the weekend before She’d bought herself one, so the totals three. She’s got at least 4 (2 male, two female), but I think it’s 6 (3 male, 3 female). I’ve been having a ball taking pictures of them. I got enough of the single-bird shots, so I’ve been trying to get more than one in them. The males attack any others, so I’ve been working on getting some of the ‘attack’ shots. I have two right now, but the camera takes too long to auto focus to get them unless one holds off the other right at the feeder. (Yet another reason for the $900 camera, manual focus.) I can’t get the photos off the camera here, so I’ll put them up when I get back home. Missing everyone down there, especially my man. It’ll be good to sleep with someone in the bed next to me again. Who doesn’t smoke either. 🙂
