We ended up with about 6.5 inches of snow with about 1/4th inch of ice on the top of that, so we’ve been pretty much locked in for days. John and I walked about a block to CVS yesterday for Diet Coke. It took us an hour because the sidewalks are all pure ice. This morning, we opted to attempt a drive to the local WalMart for cake batter. We made it there, but all the eggs in the store were still gone, so no cake for me. We did get lunch items through. I feel like the kid in the book ‘Hatchet’ after he’s rescued and he’s surrounded by food in the grocery store. Obviously, we weren’t anywhere close to starving, but now I feel like we are so rich in food.
Today’s feeder list is interesting: Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Blue Jay (ON the feeder, normally a ground bird), Mourning Dove (ON the feeder, normally a ground bird), Carolina Wren, Eastern Towhee, House Finch, Purple Finch, Red-Bellied Woodpecker (ON the feeder, shockingly he’s learned how to manage a perch), Northern Cardinal, Brown Thrasher and Dark-Eyed Junco.
If you have a boxed cake, you can use a can of diet coke to make it. The diet soda replaces all of the ingredients needed. My son is allergic to eggs and he can have cake when I make it that way. All you do is mix the can of soda with the box cake mix and bake it like normal. =D
